What is macro newborn photography ?
You might have heard some photographers talking about “macros” or “macro shots” and wonder what is this ?!
Well it just means taking close-up photos of the little details. I am talking, lashes, lips, ears, little toes, little hands.
You might not think about macro newborn photography at first when you go have your newborn photoshoot, but trust me you will want to remember how small they ever were.
We can get some for babies aged 6-10 months old too, if they don’t move too fast. I especially like to capture the lashes of these babies, because they very often have incredible lashes (longer than us, not fair !).
Here is a little peak of what macro photos look like.
We might capture their baby flakes for instance, or a very long unique lash, or a birth mark so special to you.
It’s about seeing the little details of your baby and remembering them forever.
How do I capture these details ?
I use a specific lens on my camera , and I need baby to be very still so the photo is not blur . I will focus manually (I turn the ring on my lens) so I get to decide which detail I want to focus on, rather than letting the camera decide.
Is there any little detail you know about your baby and you want me to capture it ? just le me know in your pre-shoot questionnaire or let me know on the day :)
