6 poses for a Maternity photoshoot with a sibling

Mum, if you are worried about having your older kid behave during a Maternity session, don’t worry, I ‘ve got you.

I have a set of prompts and poses that always work with them. The key is to make it a game to get them involved.

1/ The belly hug

A simple yet meaningful pose, the belly hug captures the older sibling embracing the baby bump. Whether they gently rest their head against mum’s belly or wrap their little arms around it, this pose highlights the bond forming even before birth. Encouraging them to talk or sing to the baby adds an extra layer of emotion and authenticity to the moment.

2/ The kiss for baby

This adorable pose features the older sibling giving the bump a sweet kiss. It’s a classic shot that radiates tenderness and excitement. This pose works well for children of all ages and is especially touching when they naturally reach out to connect with their soon-to-arrive sibling.

3/ Hands on Mummy’s belly

We can either use a stool or we can use your partner to hold your kid and touch your belly. I like to combine this photo with the other one of your partner

4/ Flying like an airplane to touch the belly

your partner will hold your older kid and fly him/her towards your belly. That’s a super cute prompt, which always get laugh and giggle ! I like to shoot backlit ( against my window) to then do different edit in colour, black & white or even like a silhouette style.

5/ In Mummy’s arms

If you have enough strength and are up for it, that’s a beautiful pose too. Have a cuddle with your older kid. For older and bigger kids, I will ask your partner to lift them a bit to help you :)

6/ Drawing on Mummy’s belly

Always a very funny one, I will ask them to draw something on your belly and you have to guess what it is ! I love how this pose capture the connexion between you two, it melts my heart !

Capturing maternity moments with an older sibling is a wonderful way to document the family’s journey into its next chapter. These six go-to poses ensure a mix of heartfelt, natural, and stunning images that celebrate the beauty of pregnancy and sibling love.

If you’re expecting and want to create timeless maternity memories with your little one involved, I’d love to help! Let’s plan a session that perfectly reflects your family’s joy.

Much love, Claire
