Outfits for Dads and inspiration for your photoshoot

So Dad, what to wear to your photoshoot ? Here a few tips and advices on what you could wear and what you should avoid too.

First, we want you to be comfortable in your outfit, because if you are not, it will show on the photos (that’s valid for Mums too).

Then, we want to choose within a light colour palette. Think white, cream, beige, ecru, anything that gives us a earthy vibes or summer tones. This way the focus will be on your faces rather than what you wear.

1/ White shirt or white t-shirt

It is simple, easy to find in store and it’s a classic, timeless choice. It goes with everything and it will definitely go with whatever Mum is wearing during the photoshoot.

I find that a t-shirt will give it a more casual and relaxed vibe, while a shirt will look formal straight away, but then it’s down to personal preference. If you often wear white shirt and that’s your style, go for it then.

If you don’t have a white t-shirt or shirt, you can go to Uniqlo, Zara, H&M, Mango.

2/ Beige Chino or linen

Again another classic, and the light colour makes sure the focus will remain on your face or your baby’s face.

If you don’t have it in your wardrobe alredy or don’t llike this colour, you can go for grey, light brown, anything in these tones will work great too.

Here is a style board to help you and give some inspiration.

Neutral colours work best for a Newborn shoot, so the focus remains on baby.

You can wear a short if you come to a Newborn session, as the room will be heated for baby.

3/ Classic blue jean & white t-shirt

Traditional, classic, comfortable, easy to find in your wardrobe. Not my first choice obviously if you have seen my style, but it’s a good option if you don’t have any beige or light colour trousers.

4/ All black style

I recently captured a couple wearing all black clothes for a Maternity session and I have to say I fell in love with it ! Mum wearing a long bodycon black dress, showing off perfectly her bump and Dad wearing a black t-shirt with black jean. I love this look !

5/ What not to wear

  • Avoid bright or neon colour. This will distract the eye too much on the photo, while we want the focus to be on you or baby.

  • No logos or character on your top or trousers

  • Business attire , we are not going to a meeting!

  • Chunky watch

When you book a photoshoot with me, you will receive a Styling guide alongside your Welcome guide.

In there, you will have even more tips on what to wear, what to avoid, and what works best for all of you.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me before your shoot, I am always happy to help.
